Wide open spaces, western landscapes and detailed images of the people who work and ride the land that is what inspires my art work. The spirit of the West is still alive and I try to capture that spirit in each of my pieces and present that to the viewer. Sometimes this is captured in a detail painting of a worn boot and spur, while other times it is in rodeo action or a working cowboy. I work mostly in acrylic paint on either paper or canvas. Texture, color, composition and detail are important aspects of my work.

Most of my art skills I developed on my own after picking up painting and drawing techniques from art classes in college back in the late 1970s. I did not become serious about art though until the early 1990s when I decided to paint more and look into participating in art shows and galleries in Northern California and Washington. My first solo art show was in 1991 in the town of Sonora, California. I still was working a regular job at the time and worked on art whenever I could. In 1993 I dedicated myself to my art and only worked other jobs occasionally. I have traveled the Western United States extensively since 1993, taking time along the way to soak up the western landscape, people, towns, ranches, rodeos, reservations, and history. I have spent a lot of time in the southwest, taking extended painting trips into Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. I now reside in the mountain town of Prescott, AZ"
